If you are a retail investor, then you should have a broker for investing in the small cap penny stocks. You can use the full services broker or a discount broker to invest in these small cap penny stock stocks. If you go through a discount broker and place the trade online yourself, then you can save quite a lot in the commissions. There are many online discount brokers and many full service brokers. When choosing a broker for investing (we suggest a discount broker for these stocks), look at the commission fees and really read the fine print. Second, look at the minimum amount required or the minimum investment required for funding the account as well as the features and the benefits offered by a discount broker vis-à-vis another discount broker. Know their charges also for any inactivity of the account.

Invest at least $500 in the account to see some reasonable returns after paying the commissions to your broker. Also remember that the more money you put in a single stock, the more risk you have. Diversify your risk and put in many stocks as possible. One should start with at least 3 stocks. You have to continuously update yourself about all the news that you can get on these stocks. There is very little information that is available on these stocks. If you have too many at the start, then you wouldn’t be able to concentrate on the stocks and your profits won’t be there. When you are comfortable about the 3 stocks, then you can concentrate on more. At the beginning let these stocks comprise only 10% of your investment. It’s not wise to lose a lot of money since they are quite volatile.

Have strategy for buying the stock. Don’t chase the stock just to buy the shares. Chances are that other buyers will catch on or the seller will catch on. In case the sellers are there, the stock might just come to a crashing halt. Put a max on the purchase price and the selling price, this way you won’t stand to lose a lot.
